[Would You Like to Know God Personally?]

From the Pastor:

A coach had a mural painted on the wall of a collegiate training room.  “Are You Committed or Just Interested?”  it asked.  Being committed to the   team meant putting practices and games ahead of personal desires.  Being “just interested” meant that personal needs would take precedence.  Of course, the coach wanted committed team players.

At the Oak Avenue Free Methodist Church, you’re important to us either way.  The Lord has given the church a vision to – Change our World, One heart at a time!   Perhaps you have felt a desire for a spiritual awakening or the urge to explore the message of Jesus Christ.  You might remember church experiences from your youth and want to share them now with your family.  Maybe  you are a committed believer who is looking for a new church home full of friendly people, where people are more important than programs.

It was Mother’s Day in 1963 when the first services where held in what was then a rural portion of Sacramento County.  The neighborhood church continued to grow, prospering through the socially turbulent 1960’s, free-wheeling 1970’s,  big money 1980’s and 1990’s and now moving into the new millennium -- the church continues to provide a solid  ministry that is both sensitive to the demands of the new day while maintaining its roots in the traditional Christian faith.  Worship provides a blending of traditional and contemporary music with a desire to be a cross-generational church that meets the needs of the whole family.  The Oak Avenue Church is a Christ Centered, Bible believing, evangelical Church that is here to share the love of Jesus Christ with our community.

Are you committed or Just interested?  Either way, we encourage you to come and check us out this Sunday.  And please, introduce yourself.  God bless you!!
